That Whole Blogging Thing vs. Sleep

Last week I did not blog.

It’s not that I didn’t have anything to say–I’ve always got SOMETHING to say (yes, this is a both an annoying fault and a forte)–but we’re busy adapting to life as an ordinary family and blogging was shuffled to the bottom of the To Do pile leaving only the edges of my To Write notes sticking out. They stuck out just enough to taunt me and make my head spin with absolute clarity of thought at 3AM only to find those ideas frustratingly irretrievable when I crawled out of bed at 7AM to do that whole eat a complete breakfast, help make lunches, drive children to school thing. Obviously I am slow to adapt to what most of you have been doing for years.

KM Lazy CatsOr maybe I’m just lazy like my cats. It’s also possible the muscle relaxants my doctor prescribed paired with my fall allergy meds have made dreamland my preferred state of mind. Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was an app that turned dreams into text? Surrealism would be the new normal. Far-out, man.

But as there is no such app, I did not write. So whatever my fleeting thoughts were they are gone forever. I’ll never know what I thought about…

…the Miss America pageant as both an antiquated and misogynistic relic that is NOT redeemed simply because they make the girls answer a random bonus question… (Ok, I might have telegraphed this one)

…or the absolute fools we made of ourselves as a country when far too many of our freedom loving citizens predicted end times (AGAIN) when they seemed to ask the new Miss America “Are you now or have you ever been an actual American, a real American, you know, a good old boy Christian American? We only ask because you look like a terrorist. And would you mind answering our questions while wearing this Made in China bikini while twerking?”...

….or Congress’s continuing myopic obsession with repealing unfunding annihilating the ACA (aka Obamacare) at the expense of actually doing something–ANYTHING– up to and including taking some sort of proactive approach and submitting a viable alternative to the ACA that might allow USA citizens to have reasonable and affordable access to preventative health care along with emergency and chronic condition care? No? Baby with the bathwater, is it?…

…or the ongoing, and apparently now syndicated, political game called The Great 2nd Amendment Showdown where rather than making genuine effort to fix the gun violence issue our “leaders” spend all their energy trying to prove how much it’s people who are the problem and not the guns. Puh-lease! In the words of Eddie Izzard, “the gun helps,” so maybe it’s time you try a little harder. Maybe it’s time you try like there is crazy person with a gun who somehow managed to get security clearance and who is now running around some government building–say the Capitol or a military installation for example–enjoying his own little patriotic fireworks while reveling in his crazy right to legally own a gun…

…or how achieving peace (or at least not going to war) is somehow now an example of “failure to lead”. Those damn Ruskies causing all that peace. Fuck diplomacy. I don’t trust it. Let’s bomb first, claim immediate victory, and ask questions later. It’s the American way…

But I didn’t blog last week so I’ll never know what I thought.

And now I need a nap.
